Chery Tiggo came into its game against Farm Fresh with a specific motivation of not letting anything of what happened last game repeat itself.

“After [our last] game, we talked the next day and agreed that it was such a waste,” Cess Robles said in Filipino after driving the Crossovers to a 21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20 come-from-behind victory against the Foxies in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at PhilSports Arena.

Robles was talking about the team relaxing at a crucial juncture against Petro Gazz last Tuesday, where the Crossovers eventually threw away a two-set lead—and control—to lose.

“We knew if we relax, that [fold-up] will happen again,” Robles, after finishing with 21 points built on 16 attacks, went on. “So we did everything we could to win in four sets.”

Chery Tiggo improved to 5-3 and climbed out of the bottom half of the standings. Finishing there would give the Crossovers some sort of advantage in the first round of the playoffs since they will be playing a lower-ranked side.

The Crossovers admitted that complacency played a part in that upset, and there were still stains of that bad attitude in the opening frame against the Foxies.

“We became comfortable in the third set,” said Robles in explaining how they bungled the Petro Gazz outing.

“Because we were leading, we were just waiting for them to commit errors, we weren’t the ones making a way to create points,” Ara Galang said of the Petro Gazz debacle, also in Filipino, after scoring 20 points from 15 kills, four blocks and an ace against the Foxies.
